Hi, I’m Jessie.
The issues are tough. The challenges are real and scary. But there is nothing more satisfying, more joyful, than doing what you love and what you’re best at. For me, that’s helping great leaders unlock the power of communications in service of a more sustainable and equitable world.
As a leading communications advisor to businesses, NGOs, and governments, I have tackled issues as diverse as mainstreaming the concept of sustainable finance, creating the political space for market-based climate policies, and supporting Indigenous-led advocacy to protect sacred lands.
I bring two decades of experience, a deep knowledge of the landscape, and insights based on nuance and compassion. I am known best for my ability to ask the “dumb” question: the one we have to answer in order to move forward.
Whether you need help building a brand, positioning a campaign, or framing an issue in our ever-evolving economic and political environment - I’m here for the heavy strategic lifting. And I promise, we’ll have fun along the way.
A few Quick highlights
Originally from Baltimore, MD, I studied English Literature and Anthropology at Tulane University in New Orleans, where I gained my taste for crawfish and lost my taste for beer. I came to Toronto for grad school and ended up with two degrees (Museum Studies and Sociology), a lovely spouse, Canadian citizenship, two boys, and a very large dog (in that order). It worked out.
I found my feet in conservation and communications at WWF-Canada, where I was head of strategic comms. I helped launch and was the communications architect behind Canada’s Ecofiscal Commission. I founded practices in Sustainable Value and Indigenous Settlement Communications as an executive leader at Argyle (now Changemakers), and, most recently, I led the re-brand and re-launch of Generate Canada (formerly The Natural Step Canada).
My favourite place in the world is the path that runs along Grenadier pond into the heart of High Park.
